A man allegedly high on drugs hacked to death and removed innards of his grandfather while thinking that the victim was a supernatural being.<br /><br />

The brutal killing took place at 6 a.m. Friday in Barangay San Roque, Talibon, said P03 Luigi Gabitan of the Talibon police station.<br /><br />

Police identified the victim as Simplicio Item and the suspect as Jeffrey Item, 30, both residents of Brgy. San Roque of the said town.<br /><br />

According to the victim’s son, Reynaldo Item, Simplicio was sitting on his salakot, a traditional wide-brimmed hat, when the suspect suddenly hacked him with a rusty bolo without provocation.<br /><br />

While already fighting for his life, Simplicio was reportedly dragged by Jeffrey to an open area.<br /><br />

The suspect then opened the victim up and removed his intestines and other internal organs.<br /><br />

Reynoldo attempted to stop Jeffrey but was threatened by the suspect of being butchered next prompting him to ask help from neighbors.<br /><br />

Other residents of the area came to the aid of Reynaldo beating up Jeffrey but were unable to save Simplicio as the suspect had already brutally butchered him.<br /><br />

Responding police caught and restrained Jeffrey, who sustained a hack wound on his head, a few minutes after the incident.<br /><br />

When questioned by Gabitan regarding his motive, the suspect said that he thought Simplicio was a supernatural being flying around the area.<br /><br />

The suspect, a former security guard, admitted to police that he uses drugs which reportedly have been affecting his mental health.<br /><br />

According to Gabitan, the suspect was previously arrested for beating up a minor but was released after no charges were filed against him.<br /><br />

Gabitan said that they had advised the Item family to restrain the suspect and lock him up inside their home when he experiences perceived manic episodes.<br /><br />

However, the family was caught off guard by the grisly event as the suspect has not reportedly been involved in violent incidents as of late. (Allen Doydora)<br /><br />

This, in turn, has allowed the national government to channel funds to the most immediate needs of the public—into programs that include massive investments in social services, health, and education, in order to enhance and empower our human capital, which then encourages expansive, equitable growth.

The reforms are already bearing fruit. In 2012, the Philippines recorded one of its strongest years for growth, surpassing all expectations; the first quarter GDP of 2013, recorded at 7.8%, further raised the bar among the community of nations and exceeding even our growth trend. Lead credit ratings agencies have placed the Philippines at the investment grade level, even as they predict continued favorable economic prospects for our future. And these gains of good governance are being translated into the improvement of the quality of the life of all Filipinos, particularly the poor and the vulnerable. Social services continue to receive the highest share of the national budget, with social intervention and protection programs at the core of our poverty reduction thrust.<br /><br /><br /><br />

All these changes we have established in the past three years, and all that we have achieved from them, make up the mere foundation. The gains of good governance and sustained investment in the welfare of our citizens will build on the Philippines’ momentum, to beyond the end of President Aquino’s term come 2016.

Mar Roxas Could Do Better Than President Duterte To Stop Illegal Drugs

As far as I could remember, President Duterte and Roxas got a heated argument about the sudden rise of illegal drugs and criminality in the Philippines. And Duterte just called Roxas as a "pretentious leader."<br /><br />

How could you be a good leader if you are not aware of what is happening in the country? I don't think Roxas would make a good president. What I think of is he just a "pretentious leader" who acted to know everything even if it seemed he didn't care for every Filipino.

Now here is another senator who is telling that Mar Roxas could be a better president than Duterte. In your imagination. It's your own opinion but I have to respect it, but how could you neglect the views of millions of Filipinos who voted President Duterte.

In just 100 days of President Duterte in the office, no one could ever imagine how fast it is to have positive outcomes in the Philippines. Also, every time I talked to taxi drivers in Metro Manila, all they said that they are now safer than ever before.
